Our BodyStretch health and well-being class has a basis in Chinese Yoga exercises and is targeted at stretching your muscles to produce a relaxed and flexible body able to take the strains of modern life.
Suitable for all ages it can change your life! -- Steve, Master Trainer
We address and resolve existing ailments and long term tension brought on by postural misalignment or injury. Using modern and traditional techniques, this class is more akin to a physiotherapy session. We have a great success rate in improving underlying health problems and the classes are enjoyed by a wide range of people.
Our classes are based on an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. This comes from years of studying and practicing Sports Injury, Massage and Rehabilitation. The class commences with mobilisation and warming-up by gentle Dynamic stretching exercises. Thereafter, the body is methodically taken through a series of Static Stretching exercises which are used to stretch the muscle across its whole range. We change concentration from the centre of the muscle, on to the Origin, then the Insertion points. This makes sure that the muscle is fully stretched across the whole range of movement.
To increase the "flex" (at the full extent of the movement) we hold the posture and then move further through Post Neuromuscular Function (PNF) techniques. This is achieved by a relaxed mind and body (like deep internal yoga) but with focussed direction given by the instructor.
By addressing the complete bio-mechanical chains in the body rather than one problematic muscle, we are able to release long-term problems caused by physical or emotional stress. These can be muscular or joint problems.
The body becomes much more flexible ensuring it can deal with the affects that everyday life throws at it. Quite simply, your underlying health is greatly improved and your quality of life is enhanced.
